Artist Bios:

Summer Snowfall is a Chicago-based group featuring Aaron Kaufman-Levine on Alto Saxophone, Garrett Frees on Tenor Saxophone, Marion Mallard on Bass and Francis Bassett-Dilley on Drums. An emerging ensemble breaking down the traditional molds of the "Jazz Quartet", Summer Snowfall's music combines their diverse backgrounds as improvisers with principles of free jazz, elements of classical music, and the tradition of bebop to dismantle not only the customary roles of their instruments, but also the idea that music must follow strict genres, form, and direction.

Caroline Jesalva is currently studying at the New England Conservatory of Music pursuing a B.M. in violin performance with Nicholas Kitchen and a minor in philosophy and religion. Caroline was the 2018 winner of the Chapel Hill Philharmonia Rising Young Artist Competition, a two-time winner of the Philharmonic Association Concerto Competition, and a finalist in the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition. She is an alumni of the Brevard Music Festival, Essentially Ellington with the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, the Meadowmount School of Music, and has held fellowships with YellowBarn Young Artists and Bang-on-A Can. She is passionate about poetry, contemporary performance, and the avenues in between. During her time at NEC, she founded Blind Glass, a cross-disciplinary ensemble whose style is enmeshed in classical music, improvisation, and performance art.

Hasani Cannon was born and raised in Oak Park IL and has been an artist since the tender age of 5. Hasani was a finalist in Congressman Danny Davis Art Competition, a featured Artist in the OPRFHS Art Gallery, and was a contributing artist for the 2020 Black Lives Matter mural created in Oak Park. African Iconography serves as Hasani’s basis behind most of his works. His preferred medium is mixed media which includes the use of colored pencil, permanent marker, recyclable materials, charcoal and fabric. Hasani recently graduated from The University of Illinois Springfield majoring in Visual Arts. He is currently looking for master programs in art education, therapy and/or in the visuals arts. He is inspired by the works of Kehinde Wiley and Bisa Butler. Hasani is also a musician, a dancer, and a poet with his long term goal being to create a community-centered artist space for youth in future.
